Ford is making big changes to its lineup next year. In addition to the much-awaited return of the Ford Bronco small pickup truck and exciting redesigns to the Explorer and Escape SUVs, Ford is introducing a new member to the family: the Mustang Mach-E.
Based on the Ford Mustang Mach-E previews we’ve been given thus far, here’s what we can expect.
Taking the name and similar styling as the legendary pony car, this brand-new all-electric crossover SUV will blend thrilling performance with cutting-edge eco-friendly engineering. Named after the long-running Mach 1 performance package once offered on the Mustang, the Mustang Mach-E will offer performance-oriented options like dual engines, all-wheel drive, and extended range batteries.
According to Ford, the Mustang Mach-E can generate 255 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque while simultaneously achieving up to 230 miles of driving range. The available GT version will crank that performance even higher, soaring to 459 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to the instant torque that an electric powertrain provides, the crossover will be able to blast from 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds. The Mustang Mach-E proves that “electric” doesn’t mean “less fun to drive.”
