Add in convenient upgrades like an Interior Work Surface and Max Recline Seats, and the F-150 is a sure choice for 2021 North American Truck of the Year.

In the category of North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E defeated the Genesis GV80 and Land Rover Defender. Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, the Ford Motor Company has manufactured and donated more than 75 million pieces of personal protective gear such as face shields, respirators, ventilators, and medical gowns to those on the front lines of the pandemic — first responders, healthcare workers, and COVID-19 positive patients. Now, citizens in at-risk communities across the U.S. will also benefit from the charitable direction of the automaker referred to as Project Apollo, as it shifts gears to donate 10 million masks.

“Protecting the health of students, families, workers and others at risk in our communities is the top priority as we continue to fight back against this unprecedented pandemic,” said Mary Culler, president, Motor Ford Company Fund. “We are proud to add these masks to our ongoing community support knowing we are at our best when we all come together to help.”

Groups earmarked for the first round of masks include small businesses in African American communities located in Los Angeles, New York, New Orleans, Atlanta, Detroit, and Chicago; Disabled American Veterans, food banks, the American Red Cross, students studying at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and students at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.

Detroit’s Ford Resource and Engagement Centers will serve as a mask distribution hub, and the state of Michigan will receive 1.5 million masks. These masks will be handed out to health centers, homeless shelters, and COVID-19 testing sites across the state.

We at Greenbrier Ford in Lewisburg, West Virginia, are proud of the Ford Motor Company’s efforts to help during the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Ford GPS Technology Works Even out of Cell Range

New Ford GPS in Lewisburg, WV

Most GPS will stop working if you drive outside the range of cellular towers the GPS pulls positioning data from. But with the new Ford GPS, created in partnership with Telenav and available in the new 2021 Ford F-150 and Ford Bronco, your GPS will keep navigating for you even outside of cell range.

Telenav has created a hybrid navigation system that gives you multiple routing options. When you’re within cell range, the system uses connected navigation for faster updates, traffic information, and more. The system also stores maps of thousands of off-road cites out of cellular range and switches to offline GPS using these maps when you go outside of cell range.

This technology is especially useful for drivers who do a lot of off-roading in remote forest and mountain locations, where cell signal is limited. Which is why Ford has chosen to equip the Ford F-150 truck and the Bronco SUV with the new system first, as these are two of the brand’s most popular off-roaders.

This navigation software also includes special options for when you have a trailer attached or you’re on an off-road trail. The system will take the dimensions of your trailer into account and help you safely navigate tight corners and other tricky scenarios you might encounter while towing.

Thanks to Ford, you’ll never get lost again — even when you lose cell reception. Check out the 2021 Ford F-150 and Ford Bronco equipped with the new Ford GPS technology at Greenbrier Ford in Lewisburg, WV!

Ford Makes 50,000 COVID-19 Ventilators with GE Healthcare

COVID-19 ventilators

Ford is providing its manufacturing expertise in the fight against COVID-19. With a partnership with GE Healthcare, they announced that they will produce up to 50,000 COVID-19 ventilators. Their goal is 1,500 ventilators by the end of April, 12,000 by the end of May, and 50,000 by the fourth of July. This goes in tandem with the goal of the government to get 100,000 ventilators made in 100 days.

GE Healthcare used the ventilator design by Airon Corp. Airon Corp. specializes in pneumatic life support products. The design is useful because it doesn’t run on electricity. Instead, it uses air pressure to run, making it easy to set up and run anywhere. And it addresses the needs that severe COVID-19 patients are having.

Initially, Ford went down to Florida to collaborate with Airon’s factories and boost production. Now, they have started using the Ford plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan to quickly churn out the ventilators on a grand scale. Airon usually produces three ventilators a day in their normal manufacturing. With Ford, they are making up to 7,200 a week. The production is around the clock, with 500 volunteers working three shifts.

“Just as Ford in the last century moved its manufacturing might seamlessly from auto to tank production during World War II, the Ford team is working with GE Healthcare to use its awesome engineering and manufacturing capabilities to voluntarily help this nation solve one of its most pressing problems,” said Peter Navarro, the White House Defense Production Act Coordinator .

Normally, we’d encourage you to visit the dealership to check out some of Ford’s top-notch vehicles. However, safety is more important. Stay home if you can and visit Greenbrier Ford after the COVID-19 crisis has passed!
